HISTORY OF CEDAR RIDGE CAMPING RESORT

I was camping at state owned campgrounds every weekend and spending over $1500 a year for rent on a site that only provided a 30 amp electric hookup, and I had to pray for a site big enough for my 30' travel trailer to fit on.

My wife and I had really wanted to get out and enjoy our new camper, and spend some quality time with our kids, so they could appreciate the camping experience we grew up with. The problem was that it was difficult to find a site that was decent, and prayed each weekend we would not be next to the constant dog barking, or the partying site that would have 30 beer cans laying around their site in the morning.

When it came time to pick a campground to visit, we found it hard to find a site on the state campground reservation system that we could sit on for 2 weeks, without having to move 3-4 times.

It seemed that by April or May all of the weekends were reserved, and if you wanted to pull your camper in and leave it for the longest stay possible, we had to move to this site for 4 nights then that site for 4 nights and so on. Moving your camper every 4 days is not that much fun.

I lived in an area that made it difficult to pull my camper home all the time, I needed a place that I could store my camper and still use it when I needed it.

A lot of sub-divisions have restrictions on campers in your driveway, and pulling my 35' rig down narrow country roads each week would stress me out. And don’t even get me started on trying to pass a bicycle on a country road pulling my camper, scary!

I was sitting around my fire one night with my wife and friends and decided that Lake Monroe needed a better alternative to the present situation. With my background in land development and construction I decided that night that I wanted to build a campground that all families would feel safe at and could be entertained at all weekend.

After a year of planning and approvals I started construction on a nice piece of property close to Lake Monroe that had city sewer and water, and within a mile of the lake. The property was open and wooded and big enough for future expansion.

I studied the business and the needs of today’s campers, and built in all the amenities that my family would like to see.

The result was a resort like campground that was state of the art. I put in all full hook-up sites, 50 amp service, a clubhouse with game room and indoor pool, and free wireless internet service. Paved roads, outdoor pools, miniature golf and playgrounds were a must. I wanted our guests to be entertained during their stay, and wouldn't have to go anywhere else to have fun. Our cabins met a need that had existed on Lake Monroe had a long time.

After opening Cedar Ridge Camping Resort, it didn't take long to see that our demand for seasonal camping was more than we could accommodate with the capacity we had, and could grow to in the future.

Because we knew that campers want to have a nice place to visit and vacation at, and not have to hassle with dragging their RV home each week. We had to come up with a way to appeal to our customers needs, and still support our $3 million dollar brand new resort. I studied the business and looked at successful operations that could accommodate many different families at one time.

I came up with the idea of offering our resort to members that shared the same interest in camping and wanted to invest in their camping experience.

Membership camping is not a new concept - the golf course business has had the concept of members only country clubs operating successfully for many years. By taking the advantages provided by being a member of a golf course, like always being able to play when you want, and surrounding your self with others that share a common interest, and playing in a safe and secure environment, I altered the idea to fit camping, and the plan was made.

Our members can camp for free nightly, and enjoy ownership in a resort that provides top notch services, and first class amenities not found in state parks and most commercial parks.

Owning a Cedar Ridge membership gives you ownership in a resort that is committed to growth and customer service, and will provide a value for years to come. With our lifetime membership, it is yours to sell or will away some day when camping may not fit into your future situation. We don’t promote our memberships as an investment, but historically memberships do nothing but go up in value each year, making the future sale of a membership bought now, a good chance of asset recovery after years of use - a good way of guarding against inflation. In the state of Indiana, State Parks nightly rates have gone up from $7 a night to $30 a night in only 15 years. Who knows where it will be in the next 20 years.

Our members can store their RV at our park for a low monthly rate, and even have it moved from storage to a full hook-up site by our staff, making your trip hassle free.

To make our park user friendly for members that do not want to take their camper home after each trip, we offer a move-in, move-out service, eliminating the need for a tow vehicle. This service makes your camping experience as easy as having a seasonal site, at a fraction of the cost.

For more information on our membership program, take advantage of our special 7 Nights of FREE RV Camping To New Visitors That Own An RV, and see what our members have to say about our park.

If you want to experience the fun at Cedar Ridge, and get to know our staff, you can be our guest for 7 FREE nights or full hook-up RV camping, and let us show you our activities and amenities on a brief 90 minute tour. After a fun few days of camping at Cedar Ridge you will see why so many people are joining our camping family. After visiting you too may be able to camp at our 5 star resort for free for life, with no nightly fees. Take advantage of the 7 FREE Night Camping Special!
